Experience: Wisdom teeth extraction

Just to record the whole thing now…

Thanks to my darling Rin & goldfish for accompanying me to the dentist, both had traumatizing wisdom teeth extraction experiences. And to my friends here, for the well wishes…

I’m feeling better now πŸ™‚

Day 1:

I was feeling rather panicky, nervous and couldn’t really eat anything. Darling Rin brought me to Sakae for some sushi before the whole extraction. Since i ate 10mins before the extraction, after the injections and during xray, due to gag-reflex, i threw up everything i ate… made quite a mess but thankfully the dentist & her helpers were nice enough.

While waiting for me to calm down, my dentist ran thru the consent form, things to look out form with me… so just to let me know what’s gonna happen after the extraction. When it was done, i sat on the seat, pop in my ipod and then it started…

– Gum cut (due to hidden tooth), she broke the tooth in 3 as it wasn’t that easy to get them out, sew the opening up.
– Plain tug and pull (for upper tooth) and she got mine out in less than 3mins.

In all, it took her around 45mins to get it all out, inclusive of the time i spent throwing up and i was ready to go.

Rin & goldfish sent me back, ate the medicines and i started chatting with them, it didn’t hurt as bad as i have imagine, probably due to fast extraction, no nerves involved and i was on painkillers.

– Slight jaw pain, due to stretching
– Slight bleeding, due to surgery

Chatted, watched vcds till my parents get back from work, finished 1/2 cup of campbell soup and meds…
Went to sleep.

Day 2:

And right now, it doesn’t hurt anymore (i’ve yet to eat my meds and breakfast).
Just that there’s still slight bleeding… =P

I would say…
It’s traumatizing only when you are on the seat, at least for me…
Having someone close to you being there and taking care of you, helps a hell load πŸ™‚

  2. Ouch. I had to go through that too and my experience wasn’t as pleasant as yours.

The surgery part went fine, but the extraction proved to be a bit of a challenge. The dentist was like tugging away like mad (think of tug-of-war) and the nurses had to hold my head in place. And all the while I was thinking WTF?

Kenny’s last blog post..GRAND THEFT AUTO IV IS HERE!

  3. @ Kenny:

man, i could imagine how yours was… probably your tooth was too rooted… must be a hell of an experience. think of the bright side, thank goodness you’d never had to do it again… πŸ™‚
