Learning from scratch…

Everytime i get my hands on a new gadget, it’s always a learning experience, figuring out how to make it work for me…
Same goes for my 50D…

Nearly a week and i’m only getting used to the weight and program feature on the dslr, not even sure what else should i set or unset and the angle to use, Yesterday’s Chinatown outing with Clare and Narumi was pretty interesting, got to know someone new and who has learnt manual slr. But due to the crowd, i wandered away from the group and took my own shots… and get stared at by some, for having a huge ass camera :P

Dad ‘QC’ the photos but didn’t say much, guess it was okay :X
Can’t wait to attend next week’s basic class, learn from GH and other friends.

Eeps.
Too used to my PnS Fuji F50d and its preset features.
Learning from scratch… hopefully it wouldn’t take too long.

Filler: Butterfly in the office

Our team were heading outta for lunch when one of my colleagues got freaked out.
We were all looking around till finally we spotted this butterfly (around 10cm across in size) resting on the glass doors, enjoying the aircon and trying to slowly shift its way through the open door. Probably afraid we’ll trap it or something.

Once it laid still… *clicked*

Kinda rare to spot something so beautiful in the office.
Simply beautiful :)

New Toy: Canon 50D

Never expected to get a dSLR so soon and only thought i’ll only be getting the entry level 500D…
But Dad surprised me when we were walking around Funan with Uncle Matthew, checking out prices.

Both of them agreed, even the sales guy at Alan Photo, that it’ll be better to get a good SLR with good lens and stick with it, then to keep changing when the need arises. Now i understand why photography is an expensive hobby but a good investment.

So… now i own a Canon 50D with 18-200mm lens, hee!

And it’s amazing that Dad didn’t force me to get a Nikon (he has an old film SLR), since he has existing old lenses (but require servicing due to mold issues)…

Well it’s a co-share toy but i’ll probably be using it more often than Dad, so anyone willing to guide this newbie along, pls msg me… would love to head out for outings if schedule permits :)

And photos will be up soon, hee.

Btw, thanks to the nice sales guy for being so patient and being helping and detail with the purchase!

Filler: Dinner with Parents

Yup, another filler post…
Need to clear and upload my photos. Been a while since i had dinner with my parents, since they are usually busy with work and i’m too tired to go downstairs…

So we headed down to our fav. store for some decent ‘zi char’ or cooked food.
