Macro Shot: Dragonfly (2)

ISO: 400
Exposure: 1/250 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 100mm

As you can see, they are of different angles but shot with same settings…
Both cropped to bring out the details of this dragonfly, which is one of the more common ones found in Botanic Garden.

First shot is more on the overall details.
Second shot, focus on its wings and hairy stick ‘legs’ 😛

  1. not enough lighting in your picture and not focus enough

next time put your focus point on the eye.. you should be able to get great shoot from there..

if you used macro lens would be greater result

  2. I agree with skelertor, for insect macro the eyes should be in focus. for a dragonfly or any other fly, especially, because they have such large compound eyes, they draw a lot of attention when they are in focus.

      hmm roger that 🙂
guess i need loads of practice in shooting macro, time to rent lens to shoot, heh!

yup, i think i blocked out the light with my shadow.
details are a bit off for the 2nd shot.
