On 25 Feb 2013, Samsung unveiled its new lineup of advanced internal solid state drives (SSDs) – Samsung SSD 840 and 840 PRO Series.
Supporting the SATA 6.0 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) interface, the new SSD Series comes in two tracks – the SSD 840 Series for general computing purposes and the more advanced 840 PRO Series for serious users. Utilising flash memory data storage, both the SSD 840 and SSD 840 PRO Series come with an innovative MDX controller, ensuring fast performance and exceptional reliability regardless of data type.
Samsung is a unique SSD manufacturer that engineers almost all of its components in-house. This allows it to meticulously fine-tune its hardware and software, and offer outstanding reliability and support such as a five year warranty on Samsung’s latest 840 PRO.
The series also comes with a number of different business features, such as Worldwide Name (WWN), a unique identifier used in storage technologies, and an LED Indicator that makes it easy to integrate the SSD with server and storage systems. These features are coupled with an AES Encryption to facilitate the safeguarding of data against attack by encoding all information on the disk at the hardware level.
