News: Bare Your Sole 2013 back on 1st June

Yay!

Habitat-Barclays Bare Your Sole, is back for its fifth year of bare feet walking and fund raising event 🙂

Take off your shoes on this one particular day in support of children and adults who live in dire conditions, to help raise funds for Project Homeworks – a project that aims to improve the living conditions of the elderly, the sick and the physically-challenged living in one-room flats all over the island.

And while doing your part for to help those in need, make it a day out for the family.
Let your kids experience bare feet walking while experiencing nature 🙂

There’s a cute and fun contest, known as Happy Soles 2013, which you and/or with your kids could take part in, to spread the word on the walk and a chance to win a S$198 goodie bag.

Notes (as shared on website and based on my past experience to BYS):

– Nearest MRT station: Stadium MRT station (Circle Line – CC6)

– Participants are encouraged to walk from Kallang Leisure Park to event site
(it can be quite a distance, about 30mins. if you aren’t keen to do a pre-event walk, queue for the shuttle service or take SBS bus 158)

– Parking is available at Kallang Leisure Park and not at event site
(pretty much limited parking in that area and no illegal parking please, cos it’s mostly a 2 lane road and you wouldn’t want to get fined for illegal parking, right?)

– Shuttle bus services are provided at the taxi stand across Kallang Leisure Park (Carpark F) from 7am till 8.30am, and 10.30am till 12.30pm
(there should be signages or helpers to guide you to the queue but TBC)

– Or alternative bus service, you can take the SBS bus 158
(loop service from Serangoon Bus Interchange or board from bus stop 81089, outside Aljunied MRT station)

Thoughts:

I attended BYS 2 years back.
Fun experience, though i didn’t really bare my feet for the walk but my then co-attendee did.
But I did get a good walk / exercise, snapped some photos and enjoyed a cooling morning 🙂

Seeing families and friends baring their feet for such a meaningful event, it really was a heart warming sight.

Well I doubt I would be able to join this year’s walk but if you and your friends are free, do participate 🙂
