12 August 2013 – Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) announced that it is the first carrier in Southeast Asia to allow its customers to charge their Google Play (aka Android OS) purchases directly to their monthly mobile bill or prepaid account.
Simply put – you don’t have to have a debit or credit card or worry about your card details when you have an alternative payment option of charging the app purchase to your monthly bill or prepaid number. This convenient payment option will be available to all SingTel mobile postpaid and prepaid customers from 15 August 2013 (coming Thursday).
It will also be progressively rolled out to Optus and SingTel’s regional associates.
With this payment option in place, customers do not need a credit card to pay for apps and content on Google Play. They can also enjoy the one-stop convenience of having all of their app purchases consolidated into a single easy-to-manage bill.
Signing-up for operator billing is easy and can be completed within minutes. After selecting the apps to purchase, a simple one-time registration and validation is all that is required to enable customers to start making secure purchases.
