News: Sony α5100 – the World’s Smallest Interchangeable Lens Camera with Super-fast Autofocus and Pro Quality Pictures

Sporting the same Fast Hybrid AF system as the preceding a6000, nothing gets past the Sony a5100 with its 179 phase detection points that freeze rapid action, frame after crisply-focused frame.

The latest generation Exmor™ CMOS sensor with 24.3 effective megapixels can also be found in the 5100, together with the same powerful BIONZ X image processor found in the acclaimed 7 Series. These features will ensure that you will never miss a shot, and capture scenes crisply focused and blur-free to beat.

For the selfie-aficionados, the a5100 has a large 3-inch LCD touch-enabled screen that can be flipped 180° so you can frame yourself perfectly in the shot, and its in-camera soft skin effect will keep your self-portraits looking flawless.

With NFC and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity, you’ll be able to conveniently transfer your images wirelessly to your compatible Android and iOS devices in no time. Uploading photos to social media sites would only take a couple of minutes while on the go. One-touch linkage also activates Smart Remote Control, allowing you to fire the camera shutter right from your smartphone or tablet’s screen (as tested, it works great on both my Xperia Z and iPhone4s / iPad Mini).

The light, easy to use a5100 interchangeable lens camera from Sony will be available for pre-order from 20 August to 2 September 2014 at www.sony.com.sg/a5100preorder, for SGD999 (body + kit lens + pre-order only free gifts). It will be available in Singapore from 4 September 2014 onwards.

*****

As shared previously on the a6000, the new alpha series with interchangeable lens is affordable and packs a great deal. A less wallet damaging purchase for those who are looking picking up photography and/or for travel use.

Having tried the a6000 couple of weeks / months ago, I find that there is much potential in this series and would have purchase this series for daily use, if it was released earlier.
