D-Link, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of home networking products, harnesses the speed and power of wireless AC technology in their newest desktop adapter.
The latest DWA-582 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band PCIe Desktop Adapter maximises speed and range of one’s wireless signal by selecting from two frequency bands to provide seamless connectivity even when running bandwidth-intensive applications. Using Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), the high-speed adapter can fit into any PCIe slots – x1, x4, x8 or x16, and instantly adds wireless AC capabilities to the computer.
The adapter uses 4.5dBi external antennas to provide extended wireless reception throughout one’s home or small office. It enables smoother connectivity when making or receiving calls over the internet (VoIP), large file transfers, and streaming of high-definition (HD) media when connected to a wireless AC or modem router.
On top of staying connected, the device also supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and WPA2 encryption for secure connections to a wireless network. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) also allows users to create a safe login with the simple push of one button. And supports 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequencies for versatile performance without hindering speed by operating in a clear wireless band to avoid interference.
The lower 2.4GHz supports speeds up to 300Mbps and is great for lower bandwidth activities such as checking e-mail or surfing the Internet, while the 5GHz wireless band works great for streaming HD media with speeds of up to 867Mbps. The device is backwards compatible to 802.11a/b/g/n technologies.
The D-Link DWA-582 Wireless AC1200 Dual Band PCIe Desktop Adapter will be available in Q1 2015 at authorized retailers, resellers and distribution partners. Retail price, TBA.
