Time is money and any additional services or features, to shorten waiting time or allow you to make better use of that waiting time, is a bonus (in my opinion).

POSB implemented a new SMS Queue service, allowing customers to request for a queue number via SMS prior to visiting the branch, reducing the need to stand in line for long period.
Presently, the SMS Queue service is available at 10 DBS/POSB branches and will be rolled out to all full service DBS/POSB branches in the first quarter of 2015. Bank officers will be around to help customers who may be unfamiliar with the new system. For customers who do not have a mobile phone, they can still obtain a queue ticket at the branch. (note: let me get back to you guys on the phone numbers, still need to double check on that)
Customers will get notifications on the estimated time to being served and can proceed directly to the assigned counter when their turn is up. By not having to wait in line, customers can utilise this time to run quick errands nearby. If customers were to miss their turn, they will receive an SMS with the option to rejoin the queue.
I love the idea, since POSB usually has the longest counter queues… my feet wouldn’t have to ache anymore from long wait.
And if you haven’t read or heard about it:
Customers can exchange or ‘withdraw’ new dollar notes conveniently at POSB pop-up ATMs, all SingPost Post Offices and 10 selected Community Centres, without having to queue at bank branches for CNY.
