And preorder starts today! (more information below)
Both the new Cyber-shot™ RX Series cameras feature the world’s first 1.0 type stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor with advanced signal processing. The RX100 IV and RX10 II are also the first Cyber-shot™ cameras to offer the advantages of 4K (QFHD 3840×2160) movie recording. With advanced dual video recording functionality, shooters will be able to capture 16.8-megapixel still images during 4K video recording simply by pressing the shutter button.
They also feature an attached DRAM memory chip so that you can capture the perfect shot for fast-moving objects of up to 16fps on the RX100 IV and 14fps on the RX10 II. Furthermore, both the cameras have the ability to record up to 40 times super slow motion videos, making sure that you do not miss a single moment of action in incredible high-resolution and clarity.
For example, this was taken by me during the event with the RX100IV and my HX50V. To show how fast the RX100IV is, to capture the burst water balloon & its droplets in sphere form:

Taken by Nadia (nadnut) with the RX100IV, cropped the image to focus on the splash / water droplets:

Thanks Sony Singapore for the invite and product information 🙂
Anyway, first feel of RX100IV…
I’m still not a fan of its body, too smooth and without a grip, wouldn’t be safe for a klutz like me. But definitely, quality material used for body.
And I love how the photos turn out (as shown above) and to be able to shoot 4K quality back or forward recording and all that from a compact camera.
Simply… stuff my HX50v can’t do… haha~
Hope I’ll have a chance to try more with a review unit, to see how the RX100IV captures expression and movement from kids, pets and insects.
